QUESTIONING THE FUTURE OF DIESEL POWER

I await the delivery of a new Euro-6 Volkswagen California 2.0 TDI 150 camper van, with delivery not until January 2017 as there is a huge waiting list. I am having second thoughts though, as I have no confidence that Volkswagen can ensure there is no cheat device, and the whole perception of diesel is changing as the truth about emissions becomes clear. As I am investing some ￡40,000 in this vehicle, I am wondering whether, maybe in just a few short years, the world of diesel will collapse and I am left with an unwanted asset. As always there are two sides to any story, and whilst I am obviously a diesel man through and through, and have been for many years, I like to think that I can see both sides of the story. So I will attempt to summarise the picture and offer some conclusions and advice regarding whether you should feel confident about going ahead with your purchase, and whether there is any danger of you suffering catastrophic depreciation or crippling taxation on your camper van.
