10 MW Engine Starts Up: Largest GE Jenbacher gas engine enters operation in cogeneration plant in southern Germany

The first GE Jenbacher J920 FleXtra gas engine has been commissioned for the upgrading of the combined heat and power (CHP) plant of Bavarian utility Stadtwerke Rosenheim. The 9.5 MW engine joined three 3.35 MW J620 and one 4.4 MW two-stage turbocharged J624 Jenbacher units, and will deliver about 40% of the electricity needs and 20% of the heating demand for the city of Rosenheim, Germany. The plant also has a waste incineration facility that provides for base load.
