Large Cu mine and cathode plant being built at Deqin, Yunnan

Yunnan Copper Co., Ltd was building a copper mine with capacity of 50,000tpy copper-in-concentrate and a copper cathode plant with capacity of 50,000tpy at Yangla Mine, Deqin County of Yunnan province, sources from the company said. With total investment of 645 million yuan(USD79.7 million), the project will be finished by two stages. It is expected that the 5Q,000tpy copper mine and 5Q,QQ0tpy copper cathode plant will come on stream by 2010. It thus will bring 1.3 billion yuan of sales volume and 200 million yuan of pre-tax profits each year and provide over 5,000 job positions upon completion of the projects.
