Industrial News/Al cable begins to replace expensive Cu cable as power transmission line in Changzhou, Jiangsu

Changzhou Power Company(Changzhou city of Jiangsu province) for the first time uses aluminum cable to replace copper cable as 10 kY power transmission line. The cross sectional area of the aluminum cable is 500 square mm and the length is 1,640m. The cost on the aluminum cable is 1.89 million yuan, only 23 percent of that for cost on copper cable. In recent few years, copper price has soared and thus copper cable price has surged too, which results in large increase in spending on electric power project. If using aluminum cable as a substitute for copper cable, the spending can be reduced by around 70 percent. The economic efficiency is obvious.
