Negotiations to address the threat of climate change that started in 1992 under an ambitious but ambiguous mandate by the United Nations culminated in an historic agreement in Paris on Dec. 12, 2015. For the climate skeptics, including many Republicans in the U.S. Congress, it was much ado about nothing. For those concerned about the potentially catastrophic consequences of a changing climate, it was a good start.
