Until now, some smelters have not restarted up their idled pot lines yet. Most of these smelters are medium and small-sized. They have no captive power station and thus need to buy electricity from local power station at high price. The power rate has hiked this year and therefore these smelters still can not get profits under the current market conditions. Even for some Chalco's aluminum smelters with stable alumina supply, such as Shanxi Huasheng Aluminum Co., Ltd and Zunyi Aluminum Co., Ltd, it is not economically feasible to largely lift output this year as the two smelters have no captive power station. Shanxi Huasheng Aluminum Co., Ltd now has capacity of 220.000tpy but it plans to produce 100,000 tonnes of primary aluminum this year.
