On August 15, 2006, ISHS members participated in a General Assembly of the Society, an event held at each International Congress. The purpose of this Assembly is to hear directly from the Board of Directors, approve or reject decisions taken by Council including the new Board members and the location of the next Congress, and accept or reject proposed changes to the Statutes. It is also an occasion to recognize and honour those receiving Society Awards. Approximately 300 Congress delegates were in attendance.
