Intellectual Property Rights for Plants. The Case for a New Law

Discussions about intellectual property rights (IPR) are rich with contention and sometimes tinged with rancor. They reflect the changing attitudes over time towards protection of these property rights. They are rooted deeply in basic ideas about money, ownership, human values and natural rights; the ideas that make people and societies alike or different. The historical interplay of these ideas has led to changes in attitudes, which in turn have led to changes in government regulation of these ideas in the form of laws, and changes in the way the laws have been written, interpreted and modified.
