摘要

Airborne laser scanning is a technology for the acquisition of topographic information with high resolution and high accuracy Within the glaciological years 2001/2002 and 2002/2003 ten measurement campaigns were carried out at Hintereisferner and Kesselwandferner, Tyrol, Austria, covering each time an area of -36 km2 The resulting digital elevation models have a relative vertical accuracy of better than 0.3 m and a relative horizontal accuracy of better than 1.0 m, This paper documents the surface elevation changes on Hintereisferner, Kesselwandferner, Langtaufererjochferner and Vernaglwandferner over the observation period. From 2001 to 2003 Hintereisferner shows an average surface elevation change of-5.1 m, of which -3.7 m can be attributed to the year 2002/2003. The values for Kesselwandferner are -3.5 m and -3.1 m respectively. For a detailed understanding of the observed patterns of elevation change further research activities are necessary. The results presented here underline the potential of airborne laser scanning for the monitoring of glacier behaviour.
