Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) has on offer US$28.62 million in funding to support demonstration plants for emerging technologies, including advanced waste-to-energy and carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies. ETI has published a request for proposals outlining its plan to provide up to US$20.67 million to support a commercial-scale demonstration project that integrates gasification and gas clean-up technologies. The project is designed to generate power from waste materials, such as municipal solid waste. Gasification technologies provide an opportunity to utilize waste more efficiendy and cleanly than in current incineration-based plants.
