Hanzhong Iron & Steel Co. Ltd., Shaanxi Province, announced its steel melting project with design capacity 600,000 tpy was officially put into business operation that means the company has already capable of affording steel besides pig iron. The company was once projected by former metallurgic ministry and government of Shaanxi Province to form one million tpy steel producer. Planned since 1969 and suspended by 1979, the company was finally built up by 1985 with capacity of iron ore 800,000 tpy, sintering ore 800,000 tpy and hot metal 500,000 tpy.
