India's Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) plans to establish a 400 MW natural gas-based power plant in Brahmapuram, Times of India reported. KSEB plans to fund and develop the project on its own. KSEB seeks to ease power shortages in the area as well as reduce its power generation costs substantially. Once the project is online, the existing 106 MW diesel-based power plant would be closed down in a phased manner.
