Alaska South Central LNG project to conduct field work

Proponents of a potential US$45 billion to US$65 billion LNG export project in Alaska plan to conduct field work this summer to acquire information about the project's pipeline route, Alaska Dispatch reported. Workers plan to survey streams, lakes and fisheries sites as part of the project. Teams will cut trenches into the soil as well study ground conditions. The LNG project is a joint effort of ExxonMobil, BP, ConocoPhillips and TransCanada. The field work will entail hiring 150 people. The companies already have more than 300 employees and contractors working on different aspects of the project, including design. The companies have been spending about US$3 million a month since they came together on the LNG export project design effort in spring 2012.
