Canadian government clears way for Kitimat export plant

The Canadian federal government has cleared the way for the Kitimat LNG export project on the British Columbia coast, The Province reported. New regulations will allow the facility to be built on the Haisla First Nation's Bees Indian Reserve. Provincial officials will have regulatory oversight of the plant under the new regulations. The plant, a joint development of Apache and Chevron, has a license to export 10 million tonnes of LNG per vear.
