Iran's deputy oil minister has said that the country plans to export LNG through companies affiliated with the National Iranian Oil Company, according to a report from the Tasnim News Agency. Iran currently only exports natural gas via its pipelines to neighboring countries, but has expressed interest in diversifying into LNG. In August, Iran signed an MOU to supply Oman with natural gas over a 25-year period, potentially worth billions of dollars. The agreement followed a July deal between Iraq and Iran to supply gas to two Iraqi power plants. Iran is currently surveying the Persian Gulf seabed to identify the best path to build a pipeline to Oman.
