Ichthys Capacity Nears Sellout, FID by Yearend

A final investment decision for Inpex Corporation's Ichthys LNG export project in Northern Australia looks favorable later this year. The company stated on Aug. 3 that it is in discussions with buyers for possible stakes, stating they are very interested. Inpex announced on June 24 that Ichthys is nearing finalized sales and purchase agreements for 8.4 million tonnes per year. It has reached an agreement with Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. on annual sales of 0.49 million tonnes, Toho Gas Co., Ltd. on 0.28 million tonnes, and Taiwan's CPC Corporation for 1.75 million tonnes, each for a period of 15 years commencing in 2017.
