Indonesia deploying small-scale LNG to meet growing energy demand

Pertamina announced the adoption of small-scale LNG to provide fuel to power plants in East Indonesia. Currently electricity produced in East Indonesia, such as in Sulawesi, Papua, Maluku and Nusa Tenggara costs two- to five-times more than Java, Bali and Sumatra. However, pipeline networks, transmission and distribution are still not economical due to marginal 3 MMcf/d to 30 MMcf/d demand, according to Pertamina.
