Malta issues EOI for LNG import terminal and gas-fired power station development

Enemalta, the state-run electric utility in Malta, has issued an expression of interest (EOI) to build, own and operate an LNG import terminal and gas-fired power station, Argus reported. The power station would produce 200 MW of electricity using a combined-cycle gas turbine. EneMalta wants the terminal and power station to be fully commissioned by spring 2015. The terminal will likely be located onshore, but bids for an offshore, floating terminal will also be considered. The deadline for submissions is May 10.
