BAPFX, Bangladeshi state-run energy firm, expects to enter a joint venture with China to explore for gas in southeastern Chittagong, Reuters reported. The development could help the country ease acute shortages of natural gas, which have caused may domestic industries to shut down or delay start up. The joint venture is between Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (BAPEX) and Sinopec: Shengli Oil-Field Sendees of China to undertake exploration activities "in the quickest possible time," said Mortuza Adhmed Faruque, managing director of BAPEX.
