Airbus partners with Renishaw to 3D print aircraft wings

Renishaw announced that it will partner with Airbus on a ￡17.7 million project to explore ways to design and additively manufacture aircraft wings. The project, called Wing Design Methodology Validation (WINDY) is a joint industry-UK government investment project. With over 30,000 new aircraft expected to enter into service in the next 15 years, Airbus is looking to reduce its development time by leveraging 3D printing technology.
