Common ectoparasitic diseases and dermatophytoses in small mammals, birds and reptiles [German]

In this article ectoparasitic diseases and dermatophytoses of the small mammals rabbit, ferret, hedgehog, guinea pig, chinchilla, rat, gerbil, mouse, different birds and reptiles, which commonly occuring in the small animal practice, are reviewed. Related techniques for diagnosis and different therapeutic approaches are listed. Various acaricides and insecticides kill these parasites rapidly and with a durable effect, which leads to a rapid disappearance of pruritus and the corresponding skin lesions. Possible contraindications and specialties of dosage in certain animal species are discussed.
