As part of a 450,000 dollars contribution with Klimaschutz E.V. to the Clean Development Mechanism project, Alcan has committed to providing innovative solar cookers and pans to 1,000 rural Indonesian families in the Banda Aceh region. The project is estimated to save 3,500 tonnes of CO_2 equivalent emissions annually. IOC, in conjunction with the Steelworkers 5795 and 6731, organized a "Stuff the Bus" activity that collected 2,100 lbs of non-perishable food that went to the Food Bank. IOC and its employees also donated close to 65,000 dollars to Centraide.
