Electromagnetic NDT to Characterize Usage Properties of Flat Steel Products - Part 3

The Fraunhofer Institute for Nondestructive Testing (IZFP) in Saarbrticken, Germany, started its activities in materials characterization of flat steel products in the eighties of the last century in the basic program of the European Community of Coal and Steel (ECCS). Throughout the years, continuous research and development were performed. The objective of the work, presented within this three-part series of reports, is to discuss the history of an innovation that began in 1988 with R&D in the area of texture characterization in steel sheets produced for car-body manufacturing (Part 1).
