摘要

The author details efforts to launch manufacturing cells and teamwork in the machining department of an engineering company. The findings of a 4-year follow-up to evaluate the implementation of a new mode of work organization and new practices are presented. The development of the new cell and team-based work was conducted according to a participative approach in which all the prospective cell members, the manufacturing manager, the supervisor, and the staff of support functions were involved. The study reveals problems and success factors associated with organizational change programs in a turbulent business environment.
