摘要

The aim of the study was to analyze whether young malevolleyballers' age, body build and performance could besimultaneously assessed in a sport-anthropological classificationof height and weight. For this purpose, 13 anthropometric variables of 67 players fromeight teams participating in Estonian championships for Class C(up to 16-year-olds) were measured. The performance of 64 ofthem was recorded during a tournament consisting of 28 gamesusing the original computer program Game. Both datasets weresystematized on the basis of the players' individual height andweight into 5 SD classes: (1) small weight and small height,(2) medium weight and medium height, (3) big weight and bigheight, (4) pycnomorphs – big weight and small height, and (5)leptomorphs – small weight and big height. The players' average age was 14.51, which did not significantlydiffer between classes 2, 3, 4 and 5. The smallest boys (class1) were significantly younger ( = 13.77). Gradual increase inweight and height was accompanied by essential increase in allthe other measurements. The classes of pycnics and leptosomesdisplayed differences characteristic of these well-knownsomatotypes. The players 'performance in the game also differed systematicallyin body build classes. The total number of serves, receptions, spikes and blocks as well as the number of successful serves, spikes and blocks increased gradually from classes 1-3 andwas essentially greater in leptomorphs than in pycnomorphs. The greatest number of points for their teams was scored byleptomorphs (37.53%) and players of the big class (30.48%)and the smallest number by the class of small boys (6.70%).
