We would like to respond to the commentary by Goldman to the article "Modified Single-Sling Myocutaneous Island Pedicle Flap: Series of 61 Reconstructions."Based on the presumption that this series represents a large portion of our distal nose repairs, he asserts that the flap is used in as many instances as may be feasible and that there is potential overuse of the island pedicle flap (IPF) code. In reality, the distal nose cases represent only a part of the series and were a small percentage of our distal nose repairs over the 16-month period.
