When it comes to milk harvesting, some words commonly used by experts are 'quickly', 'gently' and 'completely'. But what do these mean and do today's parlours and systems deliver on all three?Taking a different approach has lead to one of the biggest advances to milking cows in a generation, according to Milkrite's Pat Grace.He says: "The very act of milking with a machine puts unnatural pressures on the cow's teat," says Mr Grace."And while this has been a feature of milking for many years, the modern dairy cow's yields and the traditional way in which liners and clusters work puts significant pressures on the teat."
