This year's EFFP annual conference, entitled 'Volatile Landscape', was attended by 349 of the industry's great and good (plus me), and the conclusion was clear that we no longer have any world food mountains or milk lakes, and for many food is becoming a challenge to afford. Also discussed was the extraordinary punching power of the NGOs and the multitude of pressure groups who challenge farming on almost every front. This was compared to an almost 'embarrassing deathly silence' from their farming counterparts, who struggle to educate and inform the public on a range of issues.
