Holland embraces genomic selection to give boost to shortlisting of young bulls

Holland's dairy breeding industry has been renowned for its highly structured sire proving programmes and rapid delivery of genetic material, so it is little surprise to hear that CRV - the parent company of Holland Genetics who supply Avoncroft Genetics in this country - is one of the first to announce how it will deal with genomic selection. "We have been using genomic selection for about two years," explains Bertil Muller from CRV, "but now our whole breeding programme has been redesigned to maximise the potential of this technology."
