Milk buyers finding they have to bid up to turn tap on again

Encouraged by the latest milk price hike, our Scottish correspondent Donald McColm has invested in a few more heifers to make best use of the extra land he now rents. As we move through September our planning for the winter feeding regime starts to bear down on us. For the first time in 18 years we won't have fodder beet in the ration at all as we've gone for whole crop wheat so we will require to do a bit of dietary tinkering. Even the wholecrop has an added difference this year in being made from undersown spring wheat.
