Braced for bad news from our milk buyer

This month Paul Higgins finds his worst fears are well founded when he gets a surprise visit from his milk buyer and is forced to seeks solace in his redundant barn where something rather different is brewing. There are some people in life that you don't mind not seeing too much of. In farming this can mean the less you see certain people the better the state of your business. One such is the bank manager, who incidentally I have become to know on first name terms lately! The other is the milk company's area rep. So I was somewhat worried when he rang up the other day, but it turns out that after holding the post for over a year he decided he ought to get out and meet some of his members. In truth I think the visit was more to do with the worries that the company has with the shortage of milk in the area which has resulted in other companies moving in and touting for business.
