Dairy performance depends more upon nutrition than feeding system, This is the simple truth that UK milk producers have to appreciate if they are to continue improving herd efficiency and farm profitability, according to Professor David Leaver. "There is a view held by many managers that they can improve performance merely by changing their feeding system," he says. "In reality, this has never been the case. Whenever a change in system has led to improvements in performance, these can invariably be traced to accompanying nutritional changes.
