A self-assembled trimeric ring-shaped aggregate of an alu-minium(III) porphyrin bearing a benzoic acid in one meso-position has been characterized by NMR-spectroscopy and MALDI-TOF spectrometry.Cyclic multiporphyrin systems are interesting assemblies because of their resemblance to the natural light-harvesting system. Both covalent as well as supramolecular approaches have been used to construct such cyclic porphyrin arrays.
