One code for credibility

There has been a lot more discussion recently on the thorny topic of establishing one national code for hygiene and welfare standards, as opposed to each milk buyer producing their own individual and competitive codes. RABDF put forward a blueprint for such a national scheme to the Dairy Industry Federation, which - after four months of deliberation - was rejected with a most polite, but to-the-point letter. One cannot help thinking that these codes must offer tremendous potential commercial gain for the milk buyers.
