DOWN ON THE DAIRY FARM

A first-generation dairy farmer who started milking by hand and taking churns of milk out to the end of the lane by horse and cart. He now lists horses as one of his hobbies, along with classical music and trying to guess what Milk Marque will do next. THE RAIN this weekend, the first in August, is a godsend. We have just reached the point where the paddocks are looking a bit burnt, but nice steady rain over Saturday, now into Sunday night and hopefully tomorrow, will get everything nicely freshenedup. I always wonder why people leave making hay to the end of a dry spell. I do get caught out, but never cutting after two or three weeks of fine weather!
