HOW important is overall type score in your sire selection strategy? It's still important but not as important as it was. This is because we have more and better breeding values available for secondary traits like longevity and health, which we did not have 10 or 20 years ago. Then, breeders could only select for the type traits which they thought were important to longevity, but today they have the actual longevity value.
