Continuing our look at UK progeny testers in the 'Backing British Breeders' series, Rachael Porter has been to Dartington, in Devon. Darlington Cattle Breeding Centre (DCBC), also part of Supersires, puts six young bulls through its progeny testing scheme every year in an attempt to be less dependable on outside sources for semen. "We want to prove our own bulls because it is more economic than importing. British breeders will benefit too -especially those who help us test the young sires," says DCBC marketing manager Robert Luscombe.
