Elite and unique - the Deehaven herd is the first dairy herd in Britain to achieve the Cattle Health 2000 (CH2000) Elite status for the scheme's four diseases: leptospirosis IBR, BVD and Johnes. The 200-cow herd is descended from a group of 300 purebred Holstein heifers and cows imported from Canada in 1971 by owner Sam Noble, In its. time, the Deehaven herd has held the Royal Show supreme champion title three times -twice with original import. Honeyvale Topsy Ormsby Pearl - and boasts the 1981 all Britain mature cow, Deehaven Classic Erland, and 1987 National Holstein Show supreme champion, Deehaven Lester Lisa. But in 1987 year, at the height of the herd's show career, Sam decided to stop showing in order to concentrate on improving the herd's health status.
