Western Instruments was incorporated in 1965, and currently operates from its 19 acre facility in Villeneuve (Edmonton), Alberta, Canada. In addition to a 7.5 tonne overhead crane, the 10,000 sq. ft. building has separate areas for; the electronics lab, machine tools; stock rooms; production and assembly areas; and a large welding/fabrication area. Mechanical and Electronic/Electrical Design Technicians have been using AutoCAD and other computer based design programs since the mid-1980's. A new 2,000 sq. ft. office building, adjacent to the main building, is near completion. The company has several key areas of operations; ultrasonic testing systems; portable magnetic particle inspection equipment; pit gauges; and the NDT/NDE Equipment Division.
