The hydrolysis of a cross-shaped bridged alpha,pi-bis(tri-alkynylstannylated) compound with long alkyl side chains leads to a highly ordered hybrid material with a new type of organization consisting of striped organic-inorganic layers alternating with alkyl chain layers.
