MAG welding of steel plates with corrosion resistant zinc-based coatings

摘要

Welding of plates with corrosion resistant coating is possible without coating removal. High-quality penetration at congruent welding parameters is achieved as for plates with the same thickness without coating. The increase of protective coating thickness requires higher heat input. The decisive factors are heat input and chemical composition of shielding gas. The strength of a welded joint is higher than that of parent metal. The evaluation was performed based on tensile test results.
