摘要

Geology is the fundamental basis of all resource/reserve estimation and must be thoroughly integrated into the system of procedures used in practice. Aspects of geology that deserve attention include: detailed mapping of ore/waste boundaries,styles of mineralization, mineral zonation and domain boundaries, quantification of gradational boundaries; development of a detailed ore deposit mode4 and detailed consideration of geological and value (grade) continuity. All of these features arediscussed in the context of their application to porphyry-type deposits. Written documentation of critical geological information and decisions, and the clear distinction between factual information and geological interpretation (on maps and in text) is a necessity to demonstrate quality and to provide a basis for audit.
