摘要

The hitherto tendencies in welding thin plates by solid wire, reduction of wire diameter and plate thickness, problems with solid wire welding, narrow arc and difficulties in welding inaccurately assembled parts were described. A new approach to welding of thin plates on a robotic workplace, the use of tubular cored wire 1.4 mm in diameter with metallic filling and the advantages of the new approach namely wider and more stable arc, higher welding speed, better weld shape and surface, reduction of defects, negligible spatter as well as application examples were outlined.
