Lower Volume, Prices Push Down Natural Gas Export Revenue

Natural gas export volumes to the United States and average prices continued falling in March as the trend pulled down revenues for the month and the first quarter compared to a year ago. The latest National Energy Board (NEB) figures showed exports of 295.6 bcf for March were down 17% versus 354.1 bcf exported in 2008. With an average export price that slipped to $4.79 per gigajoule in March from $8.51 a year earlier, revenue from gas shipments to the U.S. was just under $1.53 billion, down 53% from about $3.25 billion in March 2008.
