Oil and natural gas royalties have been a robust revenue generator for several Canadian provinces over the last few fiscal years due to a commodity boom, but that source of revenue is drying up quickly. Four provinces that account for the lion's share of Canadian production, Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland, have now all tabled budgets for the coming fiscal year, which paints a stark picture when compared to the fiscal year that ended on March 31, 2009.
