Reports Says Sharp Rise In Funding For CCS Required

The final report of the Alberta Carbon Capture and Storage Development Council suggests the federal and provincial govern-ments will have to ante up an additional $1 billion to $3 billion annually for up to eight years to allow CCS to become technically and financially viable on a large scale. The council, headed by Jim Carter, former president of Syncrude Canada Ltd., was created by the Alberta government in April 2008 and charged with coming up with a blueprint to implement CCS.
