The popular notion is that a new parlor will cost between 100,000 dollar and 200,000 dollar. That is not necessarily true. When Brad Morgan began planning a parlor, his initial cost estimate was 120,000 dollar. He went to a bank and the loan officerslaughed. So, the Evart, Mich., producer began to pare down the cost of the project — and eventually got it down to 80,000 dollar. The loan officers laughed again. Finally, after getting it down to 40,000 dollar, the equipment dealer laughed. "We didn'tdo it for 40,000 dollar, but we did do it within the means we could afford," Morgan says.
