Year-round milk producers William and Sara Zondag of Sunny Days Acres farm in Port Dover were named winners of Goat Ontario's first annual Farmer of the Year award at the International Goat Symposium in Orangeville. The new award was created to recognize goat meat, milk or fiber producers who exemplify innovation, serve as ambassadors for the industry, and demonstrate involvement with youth. "We have a lot of great stories to tell about Ontario's goat farm families, producing top quality milk, meat and fiber products, and we wanted to recognize their contributions in helping to develop our growing industry" Ontario Goat executive director Jennifer Haley said. The organization was previously known as the Ontario Goat Breeder's Association. "We had anumber of excellent nominations from across the industry and it was very difficult for the judges to review and only pick one winner," Haley said.
