The steps to ensuring this success are obtaining, processing, transforming, and loading the data that supports the business. Data staging is the process of pre-positioning transactional data in a way that enables timely uncomplicated transformation and loading of data into an online analytic processing (OLAP) system. For many business intelligence projects, data staging is often one of the most complicated steps in the extract, transform, and load (ETL) cycle.
