Because of the Ruhr.2010 European Capital of Culture programme, the Ruhrgebiet will be in the spotlight of the international community. Alongside classical cultural events there are a considerable number of sustainable projects for whose implementation it is necessary to undertake geodesic measures within the framework of surface management. These include surveying duties, as well as comprehensive activities in the area of real estate purchase and financing. The Ruhr Regional Association (Regionalverband Ruhr) is directly or indirectly involved in a great many of these actions. This essay presents a representative selection of some of the subject-specific projects.
